Dear OKDXA members and guests!

The OKDXA banquet has been set for October 28th. Yes! Yes! I know:
that's the weekend of the CQWW SSB contest and we usually try to avoid
big contest weekends. Well... When I set this up, I was unaware of CQWW
SSB. I don't do contests much anymore, save to find new countries or
band/countries. Add to this oversight that I don't operate much SSB
(almost none) and, well... Polite people refer to my operating
preferences as "unusual."

With that preamble out of the way, here goes:  The banquet will be in
Stroud, OK, at the same location OKDXA has used for years, but under a
different name and management: it's now the Cattle Country Lodge
(http://www.cattlecountrylodge.com/). Same place, different management.
The banquet fee will be $15 for a buffet that includes fried chicken,
catfish, BBQ ribs, sides, veggies, AND dessert! Our speaker will be none
other than our very own Jeff Martin, K5WE, presenting the straight
skinny on his Easter Island DXPedition as XR0YS.

I've set the room to be available at 6 PM due to a group preceding us --
hotel staff needs time to set up the room. So, in a nutshell:

OKDXA Fall Banquet is Oct 28, 2017

Gathering at 5:30 PM, dinner starts at 6 PM

Speaker: Jeff, K5WE gets underway when he's good and ready, probably
about 7:15-7:30ish -- essentially after he's comfortably finished his
meal (!)

Location:
Cattle Country Lodge
1200 N 8th Ave
Stroud, OK 74079-4751
918-968-9515
http://www.cattlecountrylodge.com/location.html

There will be a drawing, so bring something for that!

Please RSVP so we have some idea of who to look for.

73,

Kim Elmore, N5OP
OKDXA President 2017-2018
