The Heard Island crew talks on their "Plan" page about how Mawson Peak is a
definite factor in who they will hear and who will hear them.  They
mentioned how they intend to use Mawson Peak to their advantage to null out
certain parts of the world and reduce the onslaught.  Their operation from
Atlas Cove does indeed work wonderfully well.  It's directly between their
operation and the central U.S. via the short path.  I sit here watching east
coasters and west coasters working them by the thousands and hear not a
peep.
Their propagation analysis indicates that when they set up the secondary
operation at Spit Bay, they will it will effectively put Mawson Peak between
them and the east coast and Europe and they'll have an open shot into the
west coast and the central U.S.  I'll be interested to watch this play out
in real time and see how it affects us mid-stater's.  
According to their propagation analysis, it should be dramatic.
