[OKDXA] OKDXA Digest, Vol 141, Issue 2

VK0EK was workable last night on 30m.  They must be having problems but I can't understand going QRT on a working band like they did to eat and put up antennas.  At about $1000 an hour to be there, the main activity should be to make QSOs anytime they have a working station and propagation.  I am sure they could spare operators to work the stations while antenna activity is being done.  Any activity other than making QSOs should be secondary (DXA. uplink, station setup).  I hope they get more stations going soon.  Good luck everyone.

The Braveheart has arrived and a recon team is on Heard Island right
now, finalizing setup plans.

They plan to start setting up as early as possible tomorrow.

VK0EK.org is the perfect place to follow everything about this DXpedition.

73 and see you in the pileups!

Gene

Everyone who plans to pursue the VK0EK Heard Island DXpedition should
bookmark this:

www.dxa3.org

This is the site where you can see a graphical representation of what's
going on, including
being able to see within a minute a particular band or mode they just
logged you on.

This software is, undoubtedly, leading-edge technology with incredible
features, not the least
of which is the ability to see that you did, indeed, make it on a
particular band or mode or even
for just the knowledge that  you snagged that ATNO.  A side benefit of
this is putting people's minds
at ease so they don't have to clog up the airwaves trying to get that
2nd or 3rd insurance contact.

73 and see you in the pileups.

I see on dxa3.org that they are saying they are on the air...
They've logged a few SM3's and a JA7 already on 30M CW.

Now that we know what the sunspot and SFI numbers are for the present and
near future, what will probably be the best times and bands to get them
from OK?

I would like one QSO with Heard for a ATNO also. Bought a Yaesu FT1000
recently just to give me the dual receive and the 3db gain on transmit. Put
up a MQ-26 6 band miniquad as well.  I have done about as much as space and
finances allow right now to try and get Heard.  Juan de Nova would be nice
on CW as I only have them on 20 SSB.

No luck on 3C7A yet.  I have 3C confirmed on 10m but would like another
band or 2 out of them.

Good luck to everyone else on Heard. Even if I don't get them-I love the
FT1000 and glad i got it.
