I checked the logs and I'm not in for 30 m or 160 m. I was sure I'd
heard my call on both bands but I'm NIL.
Yesterday evening I fire everything up and found them on 30, so started
calling. It took the better part of an hour. There it is! They finally
heard me! Absolutely no doubt that they called me. I'm not using the
keyer in the rig, but instead my lovely old Kansas City Keyer KC1. I'd
plugged my call into one memory and TU 5NN into another. I punch the
memory button for "TU 5NN" and... Nothing! NOTHING! In panic I try the
paddles. Zilch! They call me three times! THREE TIMES! And I can't send
anything from my keyer. I can't switch the plug to the rig's keyer in
time... They go onto the next call.
I come to learn that the RCA plug on the back of the keyer is loose.
Now, mind you!, I could send my call just fine. I touched nothing but
the memory button and got... Nothing. I can't express mt frustration...
I storm off to fix whatever it is and learn it's nothing but loose
hardware. I fix it, double check, come back... Maybe there's still time!
Aaaand... They're QRT on 30 m.
Profuse profanity ensured.
At least I have them on 12, 15, 20, 40, and 80. But, so much for a KP1
on 30 m!
