Kim,
One of the reasons they seem to come in from just about any direction is 
because we're very nearly at the exact opposite side of the globe, which 
renders the terms long path and short path practically meaningless for 
Okies.
I've spun down and listened a few times to 20M and 17M CW and observed 
that all the bottom-feeders (lids, tuners, etc) have come up to feed.  
It's undoubtedly going to be pure chaos just about everywhere they show 
up ,especially for the first 4 or 5 days.
