Adding one more voice to the chorus, as soon as I saw the comment above 
my first thought was the feedline. It's practically independent of 
frequency when working as it should. When I say "feedline", I mean 
anything between the driven element and the radio... Balun, PL-259's, 
whatever.

Could be as simple as a chafed section of line that took a big drink of 
water during the last storm.
