[OKDXA] 6 meters

Gene, Once the VHF bug bites, you never really recover. I first started
playing with weak signal VHF (and UHF at the time) back in 1982, and it
really changed the way I approach the hobby. Although currently my VHF
operations are limited due to an almost constant noise source that seems to
peak at VHF, I still check 6 and 2 every day. You did get in on one of the
best 2 meter Es openings in the past several years, but the 6 meter openings
to EU are not really uncommon, you just have to be patient and do a lot of
listening. Others have described propagation tendancies very well.
Rig here is a 746 pro on 2 meters and a Flex5000a on 6 meters...both
barefoot (100w) . Antennas are M2 5 element on 6 @ 55' and M2 11 element on
2 @ 62'. Since moving to my new QTH about 5 years ago I have logged 68
countries on 6, WAS, and over a thousand grid squares. VHF was much better
and easier when I lived in Bartlesville, though. We rarely get any tropo and
never get any auroral propagation here in Wichita Falls.
Have fun!
