Another tidbit of information about radio. Radio Contesting or aviation, it is hard to know because I have had to keep my butt in the chair on airplanes too.
"They call me Mr. Pip" K5RXs dad used to say. Like I said he and his Dad were both very good with words. Actually Jim is called little RX - maybe that is where they came up with little elm where Jimmy claims to have one of the greatest radio installations ever constructed by man. Or it could be just another radio term Jim has. "Boy what a LITTLE signal that poaching pipsqeak has!" or was it pissweak poacher - I forget.
Jim will tell us at the next NTCC meeting I am sure. I have heard the Gator say similar things but much louder than any ham operator I have ever heard. I will have Jimmy ( I call him Jimmy because he is a good friend or at least he was ) Jimmy should put QRX and pipsqueak on his nect NTCC meeting agenda. Or maybe he will just put a picture up on the wall for us to marvel at. Jimmy likes for people to marvel at his command of words and deeds.....
I am happy to know that little elm was not the result of fires that Jimmys radios caused all the trees in Dallas to burn up leaving only one little elm tree but, a useful word for the english speaking community that he and his Dad invented.
Some examples of the use of Little are: Little Signal Little Pipsqueak aka pissweak Gator sometimes sends "You Little SOB" in morse code during a contest - terms we have all heard or spoken on our the radio or in a hamshack where those marvelous men and their machines operate.
