Another great piece of advice to radio men and women who like to operate a radio in their car.

I cried when I read this letter! It can save millions of dollars.

Dear Alan N5NA:

Since you said the K3 is somewhat large for a mobile installation may I suggest the following fix for that problem. I have been known to be pretty good at applying technology. Just ask K5KJ and K5RX. Be careful when talking to RX however because he will try and make you think he was the one that designed the internet.

Get yourself a few of those press on letters and apply them in large type to the front of your K3.
You only need the letters T U N E and R. Now get yourself a TS480 control head or cardboard look alike. Velcro the control head to the steering wheel and place the Tuner in front of an experienced radio operator in the back seat. I can suggest very few. George W0GA or Gator come to mind they both like the sounds of a bell and you don't even have to feed them regardless of their names..

After you set the TUNER and control head up nosey visitors will be amazed at your receivers ability - especially since it mobile.

Your Friend, K5YAA
P.S. I hope this suggestion does not find its way on any of those email reflectors. Those ham guys have enough to be embarrased about.
A Great Letter from Alan and an even better response by YAA Huh on that fantastically cheap fix offered by YAA. Cardboard don't cost much at all. Brilliant!
