Back in the middle 70's I was visiting a friend who was getting his PhD at USM and he lived in the Physics lab on the top floor of the Walker Science Building. Using a HW100 I had built, I loaded up the metal strip around the roofline just for kicks and called CQ on 20 cw. Low and behold a French station came back to me. I think it impressed me a lot more than it did him. I think we all have stories like that. N5OHL loaded his metal storage building up on 40 meters.
