Don't know how many of you get CQ but there is an article this month that
blew my knickers in a twist.
It seems a couple Austrian scientists have invented a micro thin polymer
sheeting that makes what ever it covers totally invisible. I mean totally.
As u can imagine the military applications immediately took precedence. They
covered a German fighter plane with this film and it made 10 trips into
Israel without ever being detected. There would have been many more but after the
last flight the pilot forgot where he parked the plane and to this day it
has yet to be located. No kidding read the article and fall on the floor
laughing too.
They next wondered if there could be a more mundane application so they
decided to totally cloak a major East Coast contest station consisting of 10
towers, 8 rotators,10 beverages, and 8 spotting verticals.
The compliment of antennas include 4 full size verts on 160....
8 elements on 4 booms on 80..............
8 elements on 2 booms on 40...............
42 elements on 8 booms on 20..................
60 elements on 14 booms on 15................
80 elements on 20 booms on 10.............
They provide as proof a pictorial display of a pasture with nary an
insulator visible...........
Now after all is said and done it should be noted that this article appears
in the April issue and the Austrian inventors address is listed to be the hq
of CQ mag in Hicksville, NY...........
While this has to be the greatest tongue in cheek article to appear in a
national ham radio publication, in my opinion, it clearly sends a clear message
to housing assn's and CC&R's........... BITE ME....................
MR BITE ME ..............................
RIBBIT........................RIBBIT........................ BOHICA
