[OKDXA] Vertical vs Beam

And sometimes (not often), you just don't hear the DX at all on the
vertical. Gain works in both directions, measured in positive numbers or
negative numbers. The perfect vertical installation (assuming a single 1/4
wave stick) will have a gain of zero db in all directions. Most vertical
installations will have a negative number.

John,

I have worked just about everything on a vertical. Sometimes it just
takes longer.
More of a challange!

they mentioned that a 3/8 or 1/2 vertical will show comparable performance
to a 2 element yagi. Is this true? Will such a vertical really do as good
as a 2 element beam?
