Fellows,

Looking forward to the banquet. Don't know if KB5NRH will make it
or not at this time.

Gonna be a tough act to follow with Tim's show last year. (W5CW was
present. Dave does contesting from VP5land nowadays.) Love to see
what's new with Tim's station these days. I was impressed with the
procedure to dedicate each amp to a specific band(width). (not to
mention the overwhelming control panels. killer!) Time does SO much
for our endeavours. Super contest station, DX PacketCluster support,
etc. I would like to be a "fly on the wall" during a serious contest.
Please understand I'm NOT a contester. I'm a DXer. There's a serious
difference in the breed. I nominate Gil Wood W5NUT to do the DX
countdown this banquet. At 383 or therabouts, it's unlikely any of
us are likely to make it there. sic - Coy made me sit down at 350.
Gil can remaim standing to the end. Eatcher heart out Coy. (snicker)
Gil took the #1 honors at HamCom also. I recall ol' Morris W5IO last
standing at those countdowns. I'm sure you LSDXA members fondly
remember Morris. Morris always had a new joke for us on our 20 Meter
a.m. skeds.

I remain impressed with Jerry's acomplishment at HamCom's banquet CW
pileup copying test. #1 Wow! Did I mention he ramrods the ARRL W5 QSL
Bureau AND the OK QSO party? Thanks to Carol and Mark also. I need
some of your energy. ya reckon that's why he's our prez? This guy is
dedicated.

I like the idea of giving members the floor/podium/etc. and tell us
how/when/at what age/who inspired you, etc. he/she arrived in this
endeavor. The public service aspect isn't forgotten either. Don't
lose sight of the fact that our existence depends mostly on the
"Public Service" aspect of the "Hobby".

Been on the road for a couple of days and out of touch. See you at
the festivities.

OK, I'll shut up. Update later.
