Hi Gene,

That is not the new W1AW call, it is the IARU HQ
station-which is also in Newington.  They are on every
year for the IARU contest in July, but this is the
first time I have heard them in the WPX contest.  They
chose that prefix, I assume, because in the real old
days, before the ITU regulated prefixes, that is the
prefix you would use-first letter for continent,
second letter for country.
