Well, I built a breadboard L-network to try out my guesstimates. I
used a little DOS program I harvested form the web to design the
network. By its calculations, I needed about 30 uH and about 480 pF.
That matches what I have on hand, so I lashed it up.
Apparently, I do have the sign of the reactance correct, though the
component values aren't yet right. I have a 500 pF vacuum variable
for the capacitor and 50 uH coil for the inductor. I need to adjust
the inductance, but I don't have one of those handy little coil taps
-- the ones that have a 6-32 screw that is tightened to grab onto the
coil turns. Does anyone have one of those handy or know where they can be had?
