All I know is that I passed the 13 wpm CW test on the 7th try and
Jerry's talent for the dittybop is very impressive to me. This doesn't
mean I'll spend any time practicing CW, but it is impressive. Congrats!

And speaking of Claremore... This past Saturday morning I was listening
to the big band & swing show on KRVT when they did a telephone interview
from the HLARA antique radio swap & show not too far from me in Broken
Arrow. Even though I don't need any more antiques that glow in the dark,
they did use the magic words: Free Admission.

Turnout was modest, the club has a deal where members display their
goods and vote for best restoration jobs with prizes awarded. Saw some
nice work on display and accidentally bought a chassis for five bucks.
Eleven tube AM/FM superhet in clean but original condition, no rust, no
markings of any kind regarding make or model, but it did have a three
gang tuning cap and terminal board construction. Looked to be a better
than average model and was distinguished by the FM side of the dial
being marked with FCC channel numbers --- 200 to 300. No MHz, only kHz
on the AM side.

Spent some time last night surfing the web and found out it's a
Farnsworth N4 chassis and that makes it something of a find. High end
manufacturer and the Farnsworth part is Philo T... Inventor of the
Iconoscope TV pickup tube and regarded as the real inventor of modern
TV. Very interesting dude if you want to Google his bio. Found out all
I'm lacking is an output transformer (it was originally mounted on the
speaker) and with a pair of 6V6's in push pull that should be an easy
junkbox item. Tubes are common numbers, too, so it has potential.

Since the spam filter might nail me if I include the links, the
schematic can be found
at nostalgiaair dot org, if you're in the mood for surfing a really nice
gallery of radio pics visit hlara dot org, and if you've ever wanted the
complete Rider's library from 1923 through 1954... Visit sujan dot
hallikainen dot org and look for it in the links. Nice assortment of
commercial broadcast material up there as well.

Would like to end this note with something about working some CW
tonight, but that's going to happen about the same time Lucifer holds an
ice skating party in his backyard... ;)

Besides, I have some wax paper caps that followed me home on Saturday
morning and you know they gotta' go!
