You are absolutely correct that Russia as well as Spain will adamantly  
oppose recognition as they are fearful it will be a precursor for independence  for 
Georgia, Chezneya, and the Basque region. With Russia sitting on the  
security council it's a no brainer where that will go,
 
What I find curious is to whether the DXCC desk requires UN recognition for  
Kosovo. The State 
Dept has sanctioned St Barts and they are not a country  and has recognized 
Kosovo today.
 
It's possible we could see 4 or 5 new countries in the next 5  
yrs,................... Vellly interlesting...........
