[OKDXA] masts

I just went to the local drillpipe supply near 50th and I-35. It was
several years ago and it was about 65 bucks for a 21 ft stick. 1/4 in think
wall carbon steel that had been enamel coated. When my tower fell in
December (tree came down on two guy anchors) 8 ft was in the tower and 13 ft
was above it. The tower bent at the 6 ft (above ground) mark. The pipe
bent about 30 degrees at the throat of the top section. The amazing thing
is that all but one section was salvageable! I attribute this to the mast
taking most of the brunt of the impact with the ground. A mast of this
caliber is practically a two man lift so I can advise you that a heavy duty
thrust bearing is very important in an installation such as this. This is
especially true when the tower is only Rohn 25.
The only hard part of using a mast like this was putting it in after the
tower was up!
I used a 17 ft mast in the Gin Pole to stab it in the already erect tower.

Doug:
I used the 2" OD High Carbon Steel Mast with quarter inch walls. It
withstood Hurricane Katrina and 125 MPH+ winds without a single bend. I
drilled a hole in it and put a bolt through it and the Tailtwister. It was
expensive but I got it from Texas Towers.

Quick survey here.what type of mast are you using to mount your ants on.
DOM? Chromoly? Diameter and wall thickness?
