[OKDXA] K9AY Loops Now in Service!

Well, I finally got everything connected and the K9Ay loops are now
in service. I don't expect miracles with these -- they aren't
broadside dual 1.75 wl Beverages separated by 0.75 wl but it's likely
better than what I had (vertical used for TX). I don;t have room for
multiple Beverages. I could set up maybe one for 160 m, but we'll
have horses here one day, and I don't want to deal with the logistics
of making sure no one gets clothes-lined on a wire, along with
putting up posts and terminations sufficient to handle bored horses.

I detect some derectivity on 75 m with them already using some AM
sigs as a reference. These are not infinitely steerable -- I can put
nulls in a cardioid NW, NE, SW, or SE. The nulls appear to be pretty
deep, but I'll know more as I get used to them. These have switchable
terminating resistors and these seem to make a difference, though the
loop seems to exhibit some sensitivity to the arrival angle and null deepness.

I still need to get the shunt feed set up on my tower (sigh).

These are nicely made units. I'll keep everyone posted on how well I
think they do.

Kim Elmore, N5OP
