[OKDXA] THE MUSINGS OF A FROG

Well the "Once in a Lifetime" is now history and in the  logbook............I 
have imbibed in a strong "Senior Siesta" and hv most of the  sleep back that 
I lost............................
 
Once again this yrs contest was unique, confounding, but  
fun.......................
 
It was not hard to tell activity was way up.................I had over 200  
more Q's than last yr and a VP2 on 3 bands.............
 
My big heavy duty 3 holer contest amp went down 3 hrs into the  
contest..................The FL-7000 succumbed to heat retention 4 hours  
later.........................
 
So out of the plastic bag came my trusty 30 yr old SB-220 which  operated 
flawlessly the rest of Sat and all day Sun.
 
I was surprised in not wrking nearly as many Rovers this yr as in contests  
past......I would generally hv 15-20 Q's with Jerry and I think this only a  
couple,
 
My logging program wanted to throw Gene out when he tried to sign without  
the mobile designator. So when I realized what was happening I took back the  
wrked B4 msg and wrked him again.
 
Was very confused as to why i had static crashes 20 over yest with no rain  
on the radar but today had rain in the area but the bands were so much quieter  
??????????????????
 
Thought with adjusting to DST this am that 80m would be  terrific..........It 
was a bust..............Only made 30 Q's in 30 min so QSYed  yo 
40.....................
 
Disappointed that 15 was a bust................Even though I QSYed for a Q  
with VP2E and the band seemed open................Cked it regularly but never  
hrd any sigs around 045.............
 
As for Terry K5HP.................You really need to get out  
more...............Find a woman............At least a dog......................  When the 
highlight of your day is talking with a Frog you really need  help.........
 
All in all it was great fun with many turns and surprises................I  
really would like to express my appreciation with all the OK ops who stood with 
 me as I tried to pull their sigs out of the noise level or just above the 
floor  noise............Only a few were copied with relative ease................
 
Already looking forward to next yr with the 8 band Yagi and the contest amp  
all repaired and expectations of a flawless performance from  
them..........................

sure made it a memorable event.
