Don't know if this is appropriate or not but here goes.
Got off to a great start for me. Ended day 1 with 389 CW QSO's, 12 dupes, 2
of which I think would be eventually counted. TRLog made them dupes. They
were out of state mobile's that worked from two different states. I had 44
states worked and 4 Canadian provinces. I was surprised with the level of
activity. 80 was good early except for static crashes that finally drove me
off.
Got off to a good start Sunday morning on 80 then the system crashed and I
lost my entire data file. I thought I had been making backup's but I forgot
to put a drive designator on the save as file name and apparently was just
writing over my real file. When it got big enough it locked up and somehow
erased it completely. I had a backup from when I ran a multiplier check
earlier in day 1 so got back 250 Q's leaving me with a missing 139 QSO's.
Sorry to those that will be affected by "not in log" during log checking. I
hope the log examiners take note of what happened, but I know they have
pretty harsh rules, "not in log" is "NOT IN LOG" period. I think I worked
about 9 hours of contest.
So after the disaster I lost my oomppphhh. But I did find out what a great
contest this is. There sure is a lot of interest. My high "water" mark was
working 'Frog' at or near the lilly pad located at the Electro-magnetic
center of the universe. I sure hope it was frog, I got real excited, acted
just like a NOVICE.
Many thanks to all that called and I cannot wait until next year. Heck I
love this stuff.
