Ken,
I agree with you that ham radio continues to be fun and it does, indeed,
have a lot of facets, which always keeps it interesting. You have me beat
just a bit on longevity, I'll soon be reaching the 46 year mile marker. My
favorite part of the hobby is, and probably always will be, the DX chasing.
I commend you on all the family members who have gotten involved in this
great hobby of ours. 73 to all your bunch.
Gene

February 4, 1957 I became KN5IZM - so Sunday is the big 5-0 as a ham. Two
things about ham radio surprise me: (1) that the hobby continues to be a
whole lot of fun; I hated getting up at 0500 for work, and yet am anxious to
get to the radio at that time, and (2) the breadth of our hobby - there is
so much to do, and such a long list of challenges such as modes, activities,
frequencies, contests, equipment, technologies, and so on. Who could ever
be bored?

A few things that make me proud:

Lynn W5LC is coming up on year 44 as a ham.

Lynn just made DXCC Honor Roll with one to spare.

Daughter Kristin is an Extra, soon to get her initials K5KLC (when the FCC
starts generating vanity call assignments again).

Son David is a General, soon to get K5IZM (my old call - again, FCC willing)

And, of course, membership in OKDXA!

We'll see how the next 50 go...

73 Ken K5KC
