[OKDXA] quiet wireless routers?

This may relate: Several months ago I spied a comment in the Elmer's
section on e-Ham regarding broadband noise from a home network and one
OM claimed his was *much* quieter running wireless. Surprised him as he
figured a low cost 2.4gig Part 15 digital link with minimal bandpass
filtering would throw spurs from DC to Blue Light but that was not the case.
All I know is that I've run Netgear and D-Link wired routers here on a
'short' LAN (it's all in the same room) with no RFI problems. If anyone
cares, you can find home network goodies pop up from time to time in the
thrift shops. Sometimes you need to scrounge up a wall wart, sometimes
not. Docs and drivers are generally available on the mfr's web site.
Currently running a SpeedStream DSL modem @ 1.5 gigabit with a D-Link 4
port router / print server. Both are thrift shop orphans, look like new,
work FB, and the pair set me back all of seven bucks total. The funny
part is that the DSL modem features an SBC Global logo on the setup
screen but adapted itself to Windstream after a touch of the master
reset button on the back.
Ratholed the original pieces as cheap insurance against a stroke from
Thor's hammer in the spring. Been there with dial-up modems and
answering machines so I'm partial to disposable goods on the telco
wire... ;)
