OM Ken:

Your enthusiasm and help is welcomed!

I will forward a description of my once a year mobile installation to you
off the reflector. Even the Texan you mentioned may be able to use
it! However, scary is probably a good way to describe an outing with that
fellow and his relentless use of radio(s).

As far as a route, all new Oklahoma Rovers are required start out west -
Cimarron, Texas and Beaver counties. Not really but you get a great
perspective of what loneliness is like and you also get to practice how to
avoid hitting varmits while sending CW. Three years ago the Heathens
(W5ATV, N5PMP and KD5DLL) went to Guymon and stayed the night before the
Event. They all managed to avoid jail time. Two years ago, Carol and I
stayed in Guymon on Friday night, got up early and drove to Cimarron, sat
just across the line then came back through Texas and Beaver
counties. Last year Gene W5LE and Karl KØCIE liked the scenery so much
they drove out to Cimarron working Beaver and Texas counties on the way
then turned around and did the same thing coming back east! Actually,
their schedule didn't allow for an overnight stay in Guymon.

Just a hint on a few counties that can easily get skipped by rovers! Not
many places to stop and site see out there. Then again, last year the only
county missed for a clean sweep by N6MU was McCurtain down southeast. I
have that one on my preliminary list this year as maybe a starting place.

The best bet on routes is to see what takes shape - then fill in where
roving looks light. You will get a lot of action regardless what counties
you pick. The more you can be in the merrier the airwaves however.
