Wonder if anyone in the club might have a use for a 48 foot aluminum crankup
tower? I have one I'd like to sell. Here's the story on this tower. It was
originally a 100 foot, 4 section tower when I bought it, but the top sections
were much too small to install a rotator in, so I broke the tower into two
halves. I used the top 2 smaller sections as a TV antenna tower. The bottom 2
sections I kept for ham use. I had a welder weld a rotator plate and a top
plate on the ham part. The rotator plate is drilled for a Tailtwister rotator,
the top plate is drilled for a thrust bearing. The aluminum legs are 1 1/2
inch aluminum tubes. The tower is 20 inches on a face. I had this tower up for
3 years, guyed with 2 sets of guys, 24 and 48 feet, and had a Hy-Gain 205CA
5-element monobander and a Tennadyne T7 Log Periodic on it. I might add that I
also had the welder fashion me a hinge plate for the base. I think the hinge
plate is a pretty cheesy looking thing, but it does work and, of course,
you're welcome to that too. I'd take $100 for the tower, and you pick up. Please
contact me if interested. Thanks.
