OKDXAers:

An brief update for all who are planning to be participants in the Oklahoma
Amateur Radio Centennial Event in March, 2007.

A release for a Special Event listing in QST is currently being penned with
assistance from the ARRL contact for such events. The proposed time frame
for this particular happening is March 1 through March 31. The Oklahoma
QSO Party dates are March 10 and 11 which will likely be two of the most
active dates during the Event. So we have an event within an event, both
of which has the makings to let the rest of the world hear from
Oklahoma. Notices for the QSO Party have been sent to the Contest editors
of QST and CQ and the WA7BNM calendar of contests has been updated to
reflect March 10 and 11.

Not having all details of such an event as the Centennial completed before
now causes many of the dates for the currently approved 1x1 OKLAHOMA
spelling call signs to span only portions of March 1 thru March 31 but
other Oklahoma stations can apply for use of those call signs for periods
during March to fill in. Regardless, many opportunities to qualify for the
cards and awards will be possible.

Details of a special QSL card, certificate and possibly a commemorative
item like a MUG are underway and will be noted on the web site in the next
few weeks. The address for card requests and awards has been released as
the P.O. Box here in Claremore. Logs for both events can be sent to an
email address to be posted on the web site.

The objective will be for stations to work 1x1 call signs spelling out
OKLAHOMA to become eligible for the certificate and/or commemorative
item. Two different A and O stations will be required. Right now the only
5 land 1x1 call sign unassigned for any part of March is W5H.

More to come.
