After 12 days I finally have power restored at my house. We all take our
electricity for granted each day and we surly will not do that again.
Thanks to Bert Aaron, K2BA, and his bride Carmen, K5ADI, we had fuel to
power the generator and keep cool this week and water to drink. A major
thanks goes out to the Aaron's for their compassion and expense of helping
out the Clark family. There are not words to express our thanks.
We had people remove the trees from our yard the last two days and they have
it stacked up near the end of my drive and the Corp of Engineers will come
by some time in the next 60 days and pick it up. There is still a LOT of
cleaning up to do in the yard. It will take us a good while to get the yard
cleaned up because it is so large and the debris is so massive. You drive
down the streets in Laurel and there is a pile of debris 10 feet tall or
taller down each side of the road in places. It is a real mess.
I am still working 7 days a week and I will not have a weekend off until
September 24 and 25. I am going to take off this afternoon and drive to
Jackson because my dad is in the hospital at St. Dominic's with Pneumonia
and a couple of other serious issues.
I do not know when I will be able to even take a look at my ham equipment
and see what still works and what I will have to replace. The phone company
has given me an updated due date to have my phone service repaired, November
16. I have no idea when the cable and internet service will be restored.
All I know is that it was good to take a hot shower and get some clean
clothes. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts. I will continue to keep
you posted on the progress.

Alan Clark, N5PA
