Hi Gang,
Greetings from the far North(Kansas). I just had to drop a line to the
reflector to give Coy Day a huge "High Five" for his "nay" vote on the
bandplan by bandwidth proposal. A proposal that wasn't even in it's final
form---a proposal that if it is accepted by the FCC could spell the end of
all digital modes used by we amateurs---cw, psk-31, rtty, etc.
The sad part is that the proposal passed by a vote of 12 to 3. So the
question becomes is the ARRL(no flames please--long time member) going to
sell out to WinLink---to the full time RVers, and yacht owners that have
acquired their ham license merely so they can send and receive e-mail? I
hope not. At least you all down there in the real world have Coy(many of
the directors have already told their inquiring constituents that, "oh, I
hadn't read all of the proposal--we were needing to get it done"
If our hobby is going to survive it will be due to the people like Coy Day
that have given their best and fought the battle!
cu(I have my director to e-mail), Bart - ex N5WL now W0IIT
