I finally snagged DU9/N0NM this morning on 160. Clif had called me
yesterday to tell me that he had been in for about 30 minutes around
sunrise. Wouldn't you know it. The one morning I don't show and there he
is. However, there was a good reason that I was a no show. I had been up
most of the night with a kidney stone. There is no pain like that! Anyway,
today, I got up at 5:45 turned the rig on to wait for him to come on and he
was already there. I couldn't believe how quiet the band was. It took me a
bit waiting on the linear to warm up but I worked him with good solid
contact at 5:57. His signal started out about 559 and got up to 579 about
6:05 and he faded about 6:10. Tuning around the band I also heard JD1YFB on
Minami Torishima. I heard him as he was starting to fade with no chance to
work him. Also heard VK's and JA's. Anyway, we are celebrating today.
Thanks Clif for your encouragement!
