We had fairly rough weather yesterday afternoon and in the north end of =
the
county was the worse part. I had an oak tree on the back of my lot that =
was
snapped off about 3 feet above the ground. The tree was about 70 feet =
tall
and about a foot in diameter. It appears that there were straight-line
winds up around Billy Gray's (KB5FET) house yesterday. Billy lives =
about
2-3 miles north, northeast of me. Billy said it pulled his 4 foot guy
anchor with a six inch auger about a foot out of the ground. He said =
that
it moved his two meter and six meter beams out of alignment with his HF
beam. It took the roof off of one of his neighbor's house about 100 =
yards
away and then it blew a tree down on the house. They had to cut him out =
of
the house because he was wheelchair bound. Sounds like that part of the
county got pretty rough. Allen (KB5VLA) and Lee Matthews (KB5IXI) went =
over
and secured his guys to a tree temporarily to keep the tower secure. He =
is
going to borrow my come-along and guy grips to redo his anchor and guys =
this
weekend. You never know when a disaster will strike. I talked with =
Billy
and Betty (KB5ICE) several times last night and it sounds like their =
area
took the blunt of the storm. All I have to do is cut up the tree that =
came
down and see if someone wants to get firewood out of it. I checked my =
guys
and anchors at my house this morning and all appears to be fine. We got
about 1 3/4 of rain out of the storm, also.=20
