Greetings,
Webmeister Gene/N5CE has asked us to update our planned rover routes for the
2003 OK QSO Party. Please send him your intended routes, times, bands etc.
as soon as you've finalized them. Of course, you can fine tune them at any
time right up to the day before the party. Gene doesn't mind posting
them.right Gene?
So, without further ado, here is the planned rover expedition for myself,
N5PMP, KB5HMZ & KD5DLL. Already sounds frightening, doesn't it?
We have secured a large passenger type van in which all but one of the bench
seats will be removed. Operating table will be in front of the remaining
seat. Two of us will occupy the operating-logging area and two will be up
front at the wheel with trusty laptop, gps system, & watching the time. I
suspect it will be mostly 10 & 20 meters, but 6 & 40 are not out of the
question. Mostly SSB, but may try a little QRS CW. Have Hamsticks-will
travel. They want me to do most of the piloting because everyone knows I
NEVER miss an exit & I'm very good at backing up on interstates! Maybe they
will let me operate a little during stops.
We will leave Friday afternoon for Guymon (Texas county). After supper and a
good nights sleep, we will be in Cimarron county for the 0700 (local) start
time.
Counties to work in order:
Cimarron-Texas-Beaver (panhandle sweep) Harper-Ellis-Roger
Mills-Dewey-Blaine-Kingfisher-Logan-Payne-Creek.
This is an aggressive schedule and will be a long day. We all know about the
best laid plans, etc. but we will give it our best try. I'm a little
apprehensive about such an outing with these Gomers, so light a candle or
something for me. If things go bad and we are allowed a phone call, we will
get an address posted for bail money. All donations will be appreciated.
Maybe we can snag some pictures for the web.
73 & GL to all!
