In the good old days when Real Men ran DOS, the Smiley Faces were Ctl-A and
Ctl-B for the caucasian and negro versions, respectively (yes, there are
smilin' caucasians).
So... Smart guy that I am, I open MS Word and pull up the special character
set. No shortcut code for the smileys. Then I whip over to
http://www.asciitable.com/ to look it up. Sur-prise, the smileys are not
part of the standard table!
I'm verklempt.
But, if you want to fool around, you'll note the decimal column includes
Alt-234 for ? and Alt-164 for the always popular . Some of the codes don't
work in Windows. Others do. That's why we love Windows. It's a challenge...
Any other near-useless information you'd like to know?
(that last question was NOT intended for KD5DLL, as I already know the
answer...)
