Builders of wire antennas I have a question that likely could be answered by a scan thru the pages of the ARRL handbook but I figure I can get a quicker (possibly even wiser (wiser to mean intelligent vs. wise acre) with a query here.
I'm putting up 20 mtr and 40 mtr dipoles for alternate antennas and have constructed them using the familiar 468/freq/2 per leg. I hoisted each on a mast (approx. 35') and tied off the ends at a lesser height. They almost resemble Vees. SWR is about 1.5:1 at my design freq. on each and my question is:
When I install them permanently I will get them to the dipole (horizontal) position vs. a vee looking position. If I get them to a flat SWR in my test position, Vee with a 35' center what should I expect the SWR to do? My thinking is some of you have an answer that can let me trim/add while I'm testing before I hoist them into operating positions.
Knowledgable responses will be gratefully accepted.
