Dave, I have no direct experience with the C-3SS, but I can certainly
endorse Force 12 in general. I have had one of their larger models, a C3XLD
(33' boom, 10 elements, 3 feed lines, with optional heavy duty construction)
up at 82' for about 18 months now, and don't think I'd trade it for anything
else I've seen, except maybe a newer, bigger F12. :-) It has been a "call
'em once, log 'em in" type antenna since day one. It also sprung back
perfectly straight (after the elements were bent nearly double) during last
spring's ice storm (see attached photo), which is more than I can say for
many antennas in the OKC area. Force 12 employs an "extreme taper schedule"
in their yagi elements, sort of like a "fast taper" bass fishing rod. This
makes the element tips a bit whippy in the wind, but also helps keeps them
from folding up under ice and wind. Once you get over the initial alarm of
seeing the element tips waving around up there in a breeze, it's no big
deal. I've never heard anything but praise for the C3SS, but then I've never
heard anything but praise for F12's antennas, period.
