Hi guys, this is for those of you that are spending time listening for Ed
4L4FN. His operating
sked will be somewhat skimpy the next month or so it seems.
QSL manager KK5DO, Bruce Paige, says P5/4L4FN, Ed was QRV on November
15th on CW on 12 and 17 meters. Bruce also mentioned there will be
more WARC band activity soon. Starting today Ed will be very busy at
work. He is going to be installing a new VSAT antenna. This means he
will have to go to work earlier and be going home later. The antenna
is a 9 meter dish and will be 15 meters off the ground. The
installation should take him around 10 days. However, when completed,
comes the tuning. There are 4 data (256k) channels and 12 voice
channels for PABX. One great benefit is Ed's internet connection will
be 100% high speed. He will have the connection at the office and he
will be the only one to have a connection at his apartment. Then, on
December 10, he will leave for China for his one week R&R. After
having the flu last month, he is happy for this break and it cannot
come to soon. Because of this, his operating schedule will be very
slim if any. He was able to test the WARC bands the other day (12 and
17 meters) and made three CW QSOs. Possibly when he comes back there
could be more CW. Ed thinks this whole project will take about a
month. He doesn't think it will keep him completely off the air but
it will deter his activities. What activity does occur will be mainly
RTTY and maybe some CW. Ed thinks he is a little rusty on CW so
please be patient. As a reminder Amateur Radio is a hobby and
politics should be avoided at all costs. Politics have nothing to do
with Ed's activities, his work does. Just because Ed is not on the
air doesn't mean anything except that he is busy working, which is the
main reason he is there. For the latest news on Ed keep an eye here
and his Web page at http://www.amsatnet.com/p5.html.
Good luck Bill
