Clif et al,
Congrats! It can be done.
As for getting up in the middle of the night, Jim, K5TT, just told me that
he got up at 2:00AM local and was able to work them fairly quickly on 15 CW.
I was able to snag them on CW and SSB. The strangest contact was when I
came in Sat evening from Green Country Hamfest. I heard Vince working the
pile on 21020. Knowing how Vince works the band, I hooked him after a few
calls but in the confusion, all I got was him saying Hi Coy. I didn't know
if I was in the log or not. Knowing Vince, I was likely in the log.
However, I caught the other op this morning and got a good CW QSO in the
log. A little while later, I worked them on 21295. (That was much
tougher - What a mess)
I was able to do this with a Cushcraft R7 vertical that I salvaged from the
scrap pile, just to get me back on the air. It would only load to about 500
watts. So you can work them mobile or with a vertical and 500 watts. Go
get 'em!
Coy...
P.S. I second Jim's suggestion. Don't overlook the XR0X. It isn't common
but fairly easy to work with everyone in the Ducie pile-ups.

Just worked him at 1847, MOBILE!!!!! Couldn't believe my ears. I set the B
VFO on 21.031 and answered a few times. Nearly ran off the road when he came
back to me. Life is good!
