Folks,

This opportunity has been opened to the public and should be of
interest to many of us. (particularly the satellite crowd) Thought it
worthy of passing along to amateurs in general.

Attached are biographical summaries of two speakers scheduled to
appear at the Riverside Campus on July 8 and 9. They were
invited to appear on the program for our Aviation Careers Academy
and normally would speak only to the students in the Academy.
However, it is such a rare opportunity to hear two speakers of
their experience and position, we decided to extend an invitation
to all students and the public in general.

Mr. Van Laak is one of the six top ranking managers at NASA and
is currently responsible for the International Space Station
(ISS). To put it simply, nothing happens with the ISS without
his approval. He will be speaking about the activities involved
with the launches, construction, operations, etc.

Mr. O'Neal is a consultant with NASA involved with operations of
all types. He will be speaking on the history and future of
NASA. Both live in Houston and will be emphasizing the
employment opportunities with NASA and how to prepare for them.

They will present two programs to reach students attending day or
evening classes. The first is Monday evening, July 8, at 7:00
p.m. and the second is Tuesday morning, July 9, at 9:00 a.m.
Both programs will be in the Alliance Building main auditorium on
the Riverside Campus, Tulsa Technology Center, Jones Airport.
The address is 801 East 91st Street, Tulsa, OK 74132.

Please give these programs wide publicity, especially to all
students. Good attendance is important for two reasons: First,
we need to make this opportunity available to as many students as
possible. Second, good student participation could very well lay
the groundwork for future educational activities with NASA. For
example, NASA has a program with a few colleges and universities
where students can monitor launches of the shuttle and talk with
the astronauts from the classroom.

Please call me at 828-4254 if you have questions.

Jack Sellers, Ed.D., P.E.
Assistant Professor
Aviation Sciences Technology
