Hi Folks,
Sounds like the QSO party is forming nicely. Good show Bob!
Info: The only internet packet cluster in Oklahoma to my knowledge
is in Owasso (suburb of Tulsa) and operated by Jess Bowers W0ECM.
The last I heard N5OK cluster in OKC was shutting down. Correct me if
that's wrong.
If you have 2 meter packet capability, it's on 145.77 MHz
If you want internet access, there are a lot of packet client programs out
there but the simplest method is use the Windows Telnet client. Left click
on Start, click on Run, type in telnet , then click OK.
Click on connect in the upper left hand corner of the telnet program, and
then enter Jess' IP number which is 206.230.53.179
That should connect you, then you can tell the cluster software your Lat
& Lon if you know it, your name, etc. Just follow the bouncing ball so to
speak.
At the moment (Friday noon) K5EYT Bob, W0RRY Charlie, N5WR Erik,
and myself are connected locally. Worldwide, there are 59 nodes like
Jess & a total of 539 users online. If you want help on how to run it, type
help and press enter. You can send & receive mail, monitor DX spots
worldwide, talk to friends and folks in Swaziland, etc. It's a great tool
for
snatching those missing entities. You can command the cluster to tell you
the last 10 or 20 spots for the countries you're missing and zero in on
the stations' operating habits (band, mode, time, etc).
I figure having the cluster info will help during the QSO party so for what
it's worth............
Email me if you need any more info.
