OKDXA Contesters:

A few weeks back the ARRL Contest Committee ask for input on certain rules relating to club scores and who could be eligible to 'Compete for a club'. A description of the changes that are to take effect late this year for the 2002-2003 contest season are described at:

http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2002/01/29/1/?nc=1

Two of the interesting points are:

1. Attendance at a physical club meeting twice a year is no longer a requirement to be a member in good standing. The club can determine what constitutes a member in good standing. Things like dues paid, make the net once in awhile, participate via the reflector, don't operate SSTV etc.

2. Physical location within a 175 radius is real flexible now. A club can use that calculation or simply can say an ARRL section - like OK, NTX, MS etc.

There are also some new ideas for Field Day participation.

Being a contester I see the changes as positive moves for the sport.
