Some filter info from KC5NYO that may be of intrest. BILL-W5VW

Hello Bill,Here are some cluster filter tips borrowed fromK8SMC's updates. You may want to forwardthem to anyone that's interested. Also, the User Manual is available on the web sitefor viewing or download. Look in the forums underthe User Groups - Telnet Cluster Node entry forthe links.73, Mikekc5nyohttp://www.kc5nyo.net/Login/Profile: The Login/Profile is used for a USER whenconnecting to the node to execute some simple commands.Remember that SET commands generally remain in effectuntil you actually change it, either during the connection whenyou made it or the next time you connect it will still be set, oneexception would be the SET/NOHERE command. The Login/Profile is simply the sending of a node message to thenode call with LOGIN/PROFILE in the Subject. Commands mustbe entered one to a line. He is an example of doing a simple Login/Profile:S (enter)Enter Callsign of AddresseeKC5NYO (enter)Enter SubjectLOGIN/PROFILE (enter)Enter body of message, Ctrl-Z or /EXit to end, /CAncel to cancelDIR/NEW (enter)SH/DX/10 (enter)SH/USERS (enter)/EXIT (enter)Message sentLOGIN/PROFILE updatedFilters: There are many ways to set filters and one really needs tocheck these out in the ARC Manual. Most USERs in the US willnormally want to set filters to just see DX Spots, Announcementsand WX information originating from North America. This is easilydone with one simple SET/FILTER command:SET/FILTER K,VE,XE/PASSThat's it, you're all set. Some of you may want to set Band Mode Filterto reject VHF, UHF and MV or CW or what ever, just look at the exampleson the Support Pages under ARC Manual, Filters. To check how your filters are set:SH/FILTERSTo shut your filters off:SET/NOFILTERMacros: Each USER has the ability to set up 10 different Macros that canissue commands with just one number key and enter. If you have not setany of these yet, if you do SH/MACRO you will see they are all empty.Everyone will have their own ideas here, but let me show you what I thinkis a very good use. I'll present this by just going through the commands, each line is entered separately and responses are not shown.SET/MACRO 0=SET/NOFILTERSET/MACRO 1=SET/FILTER ZL/PASSSET/MACRO 2=SET/FILTER K,VE,XE,ZL/PASSSET/MACRO 3=SH/FILTERSET/MACRO 4=DIR/30SET/MACRO 5=SH/USSET/MACRO 6=SH/DX/30SET/MACRO 7=SH/DX P5SET/MACRO 8=SH/CLUSTERSET/MACRO 9=SH/MACROSKC5NYOLOGIN/PROFILESH/MACRO/EXITAt this point your Macros will allow you to change your filtering from no filtersto real tight so as when you might want to send a message and want low traffic.Notice I favor my ZL buddies. Also every time you connect to the Node you arereminded of how your Macros are set. One might add SH/FILTERS to theLogin/Profile and you would also be reminded how you left your filters setlast time you were connected.ARC-Cluster Commands...SHow/SEttings which displays your USER switch settings for DX Spots,DX Bottom of Band Spots, DX Spotter QTH, DX Spot CTY, WWV Spots,Announcements, WX Announcements, TALK, Beep/Bell and Login.Another command that should work is the SH/DX NOFILTER. Say you haveyour filters set for K, VE, XE only, when you do a SH/DX you will only get backspots for the way your filter is set. With the SH/DX NOFILTER you will get backall spots.New Commands...AR-Cluster now has three new SH/DX commands,SH/DX IOTA, SH/DX VLF and SH/DX 4MTR.
