Nice set of pics on the new antenna... Is that Ground Plane Bermuda I see
under those saw horses? It's difficult to tell when dormant, but I think I
noticed a hint of the distinctive interlocking fractal growth pattern...
I agree with your suspicions about the increased capture area being
beneficial on the RX side as I've had my best results with big wires that
cover as much space as possible. I figure if I give every last microvolt a
chance to hit the antenna somewhere, they probably will. One small quibble
I'd have is with the lead dress at the connection points. I'd have wrapped
everything in black Scotch 33 or 88 right down to the screw heads. Sometimes
this creates a moisture trap, but I have a hunch your first problem with the
antenna will be the exposed polyethylene dielectric of the center conductor
going brittle, cracking, then wicking water up into the coax... Let's hope
I'm wrong, and we're both around 20 years from now so you can tell me the
antenna still plays FB and what I can do with my roll of PVC tape.
Also... W5ATV wanted me to ask how it talks on Eleven...
