BIG NEWS:: Changes are Happening at SETAC...
Anthony KE5GIP has announced his resignation as Club president - Effective Dec. 13th.
Any club member in good standing is eligible for the position.
Weekly Net
The weekly SETAC net is currently running each Thursday night at 1830hrs local time on 444.025+ PL 156.7, This repeater is located at downtown Houston. The purpose of this net is to exchange information, review license trivia, discuss club events and anything
else radio related. The repeater has a very, very large coverage area, so please don't be scared off by it being standalone.
Monthly Meeting - October 11th
The monthly meeting is the second Saturday of each month (except Nov.) at Eat's Mesquite Grill at the corner of West Tidwell and Hempstead Hwy. The meeting begins at 8am, but there is always someone there earlier. If you have any items that need to be on the
agenda for this meeting, please get those over to Bob [email protected] - Club Secretary or Anthony [email protected] - Club President.
National Night Out - Texas Edition - October 7th
National Night out in Texas is done in October each year, this year it falls on October 7th. I encourage everyone to either attend or host a block party, and get to know your neighbors. I am planning to host a block party for my dead end street with some food,
maybe music, and of course I will have some radios and radiogram forms as well.
Fox Hunt - AKA Hidden Transmitter Hunt - October 11th at 10am
Hidden Transmitter On the move style ...
On October 11th we will be doing a fox hunt with a moving transmitter. The starting location will be at our monthly meeting location Eat's Mesquite Grill 13918 Hempstead Rd, Houston, TX 77040, At 10am the frequency of the hidden and moving transmitter will
be given. We are asking for $10 per team of hunters. The playing field for this event will be East of US-290, North of I-10, West of I-45, South of Tidwell road (approx. 25Sq Miles). I expect this search will be more difficult than previous ones. The coordination
frequency for this event will be the repeater 444.025+ PL156.7
Nov. 1st - Moody Park
On Nov. 1st, of 2025, Moody park will be celebrating it's 100th anniversary! While plans are still progress, the organization planning this event, Friends of Moody Park, reacted positively to the idea of having radio operators on hand. Our current plan would
be to have one HF location, a few others making contacts via the local repeaters. In addition to show casing HAM radio, we will as always have general information available about FRS, GMRS, and I will eventually add meshtastic to the info sheets. So please
mark your calendars and if you are interested in volunteering to show off radio that day please contact Anthony - KE5GIP so I can put you on the volunteer list.
Tailgate Buy/sell/trade -- Nov. 15th Change of Date!
We will be hosting a tailgate event Nov. 8th, At the Our Lady Divine Protection Ukrainian catholic church, 9102 meadowshire st, Houston, Tx 77037, Just east of I-45 off Gulf Bank.
Do you have topics, or questions about the radio hobby you would like to see discussed in our newsletter? Have ideas for
