FIELD DAY INFORMATION JOINT OAK FOREST ARC AND ECHO AT RED CROSS

From Mike Nault - W50FT

Please let me know how many folks from each club to expect. We can operate the full 24 hours since Dave WB5HJV will stay at ARC Radio room overnight.

ECHO Members, please let Marty know if you plan to attend.

I plan to be at Radio Room of ARC by 8:30 am on Saturday in order to be ready for OFARC meeting at 9 am.

----------------------------------------

When you arrive at Houston Red Cross 2700 SW Freeway, 77098:

If gate is not open, call Mike Nault cell 713-428-1359 or 713-313-5319 to get entry to the garage.

Enter through gate and park on top covered level or top level.

There will likely be some top-side antenna work needed so those that want to help are welcome.

Radios & Operating rules:

Exchange:  NOTE: we will be operating (voice, digital, and CW) as 3F STX using the Houston Red Cross call sign of N5WAJ.  Scores for Echo and Oak Forest will be combined for this event which will increase our overall score position.

Log sheets will be available for hand logging.

You can bring your own radio, laptop and logging software and plug into to one of the antennas or operate portable from the top deck of the parking garage. Bring your own Morse code key to run CW since there are none at the station.

Bring a standard size SDHD memory card for pre-recorded calling for Icom 7300

Headphones must be used.  Some available but recommend bring own with splitters.

No amplifiers allowed.

On 20m, an ICOM IC-7300 with laptop to run digital software & computer logging is available.  Run with random wire.

On 40m, an ICOM IC-7300 with laptop to run digital software & computer logging is available.  Run with random wire.

On 10m, 15m, or 80m, an ICOM IC-736 – NO laptop. Uses a COMET vertical HF antenna which requires NO tuning.

On 2m SSB, an ICOM IC-275 A with an Mirage amp and a rotatable multi-element Yagi antenna. Radio is co-located with the IC-736 radio.

Band pass filters must be used for 15, 20, 40, and 80m. There is no filter for 10m.

NOTE: we will be operating (voice, digital, and CW) as 3F STX using the Houston Red Cross call sign of N5WAJ.

See you Saturday, probably about 8:30 am in time for OFARC regular club meeting at 9 am, probably in front ARC building.
