TOTAL solar eclipse April 8 2024
It is a Monday
link to info on total solar eclipse April 8 2024
https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2024-april-8
The whole eclipse takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes from the first touch of the moon’s shadow to the end.
Totality is in the middle of that time.
You MUST have safe viewing filters. There are foil glasses available that work fine
A #14 welding filter is also good
(a #12 is safe, but I like the darker image of a #14)
You can look at the sun directly during the total phase and see the CORONA.
The corona is the sun’s gently glowing atmosphere.
At Leakey it will be total eclipse for 4 minutes 26 seconds at 1:30 pm with 47% chance of clouds
Sun position S at 68 degrees above horizon
San Antonio will have a partial, 99.8% eclipse at 1:40pm with a 55% chance of clouds
Houston will be partial, 94% eclipse at 1:40pm with 62% chance of clouds
Sun at SSW 68 degrees above horizon
