Hey Ralph,
Good plan.  I’d like to suggest the following topics:
1. Satellite comms using ham radio
2. Solar power for your station
3. Solar physics
4. Electromagnetics (physics & math theory)

Also, please add me as volunteer mentor for the above as well as:

1. Portable operating/POTA
2. Learning CW
3. Digital modes
4. Raspberry PI

Have a great one & 73!

One of the great traditions of amateur radio is being a mentor to others.  It may be to help them understand what we do, get licensed, build antennas or something else.  (It may be the whole thing!)
I think the two biggest stumbling blocks for some to become licensed are knowing about amateur radio and fear of not knowing something.  Each of us has at least one thing we are reasonably good at and can describe to others.  Therefore, each of us should do some mentoring.

Here is a list of things that seem to be common areas where people need help.  Please put your name beside one or more items on the list where you are willing to answer phone calls/emails or event visit the other operators shack to help.
You can do more than one!
If you think of something not on the list ... just add it on.

  • What is Amateur Radio (outreach)
  • Basic antennas
  • Station design/layout
  • Station grounding & lightning protection
  • Advanced antennas (beams)
  • Radiograms/traffic handling
  • Learning Morse Code
  • Portable operating/POTA
  • ORP Operating
  • Public Service
  • Emergency Power
  • Digital Modes
  • DMR
  • Raspberry Pi
  • ARES
  • GMR

I would be willing to help others with:
  • Outreach
  • Basic Antennas
  • Portable Operating
  • Emergency Power
  • Radiograms  (why we do them, formatting)
  • Digital modes (a little)
