I should be able to help with food/cook. I can talk with my scout troop to use some of their cooking equipment and coolers.

I made a trip to Brazos Bend State Park April 8 and scouted out the possible locations.

There area several limitations for the Observatory.

The layout is not good for setting a station at ground level and we will have to pay for a staff member if we use the upper deck.

Several camp sites have power and there are screened shelters with power also.  All are the same price - $25 a night plus $7 per person park entry fee.  Screened shelters are adjacent to the playground.  Other sites with power are frequently used by RVs.

All camp sites have a maximum of 8 people and 3 vehicles.  Parking is available not too far away – we can run a shuttle if needed.

I suggest we reserve 2 screened shelters side by side.  One for operating and one for sleeping/cooking.

Jeremy tells me that at least one scout troop is interested in camping with us.  If they join us for FD, They will probably be in the youth area without power.  We can use Jeremey’s troop call sign for solar/battery/QRP operation.  Scores can be merged under the club entry.

We will need to assign one to plan food.

The attached file shows my take on each location suggested and some aerial views of the camp areas.
