OK, I had a case of allergies to Houston this AM.
Comments:
1. POTA at San Jac is a possibility. And thete is enough space to have several bands in the park at the same time.
2. POTA with Janson from Ham Radio 2.0. He does Galveston SP, and does Huntsville. Likes hams to come by.
3. ELISSA. Another group does MSWE. But that does not exclude other events. There is a Big E birthay party in the fall.... POTA/FD skills.
4. Dickens. I HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 3 TO 4 PEOPLE FOR THIS. TWO NOT ENOUGH. But because this is not an transmission event, not hams can help. BSA? STEM groups?....
5. More net ops. Good skill to have.
6. Promote work Winter Heat and any and all events techs can participate in.
7. Demo: HMNS Main and HMNS Sugarland. Might need to ask Wayne, but this is one where thetecan be GOTA stations. I now have a partable station which cost about >$400 to put together with new product. And still METRO Railable.
8. BSA event Dome?

Subject: [OFARC] Items from today's meeting
Date: Sat, 26 Mar 2022 13:26:43 -0500
We held an in person club meeting at TRANSTAR this morning, but had problems with ZOOM.
I have a suspicion of what happened, but wont’ know for sure until I talk with Jeremy.
There were 7 people (2 guests ) plus one for testing (A new EXTRA; With a perfect score!!) and our ARES/TRANSTAR host.
My goal for the coming year is to get YOUR input on what the club wants to be doing and then DO IT.
MY notes from today are below.
Feed back and corrections are welcome.
Ralph KE5HDF
------------------------------------------------------------------
We talked about Field Day:
- June 25 & 26 2022
- Those present prefer to do it as a group (instead of everyone working from home)
- 4 possible locations were mentioned
- My HOA building (they have added a $300 cleaning fee, even is we set up outside and just use the toilets)
- Bayland Park
- Fried Park (near Silber and Shady Villa) (Barry will see if there are toilet facilities available)
- George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park (Ralph will investigate)
- Of these 4, the George Observatory seemed to be preferred.
- We watched 2 videos
- Research on a possible link between low pressure weather systems and 6M Sporadic Es (from Dayton hamvention, presented by HAMSCI)
- Listening to radio chatter from the Ukraine-Russian war (by M0SZT on YouTube)
- Mark showed us nice web sites
- SDR listening (kiwisdr.com and websdr.org)
- Radiation monitoring stations (uradmonitor.com)
- Ralph Discussed possible activities we can do as individuals or as a group. Please think about them and give me an idea of what you want the club to do t his year.
Collected Activity Ideas
- Field Day (YES)
- Winter Field Day
- POTA as a group
