I gave a talk to Mercer County ARC about portable operating with my IC-705 and Linux systems. The emphasis was on using the IC-705's wireless server to allow you to connect to the radio using wi-fi and eliminate a potentially noisy USB cable. Plus, it's one less cable to carry.
