Regarding pool water ....  I agree pool water is too chlorinated to use directly for drinking but it is very useful for flushing toilets or washing up.
Also, be aware that pool companies often use a liquid algicide to help keep you pool clean.  THESE ARE TOXIC and CANNOT be removed.  I do not allow my pool company to add this to my pool.

If it becomes necessary, you can remove a lot of the chlorine by pouring the water through a cloth or sieve to aerate it.
