I have a MFJ 969 Manual impedance matcher with dummy load I can bring for training. Has big meter.
And unless it is an I-stepper ant, one is changing the antenna impedance, that is, electrical characteristics of the feed line and antenna. The I-stepper actually changes the antenna length, so it is a true tuner!
On the WRC, and the type made in Pearland, you are doing both if adjusting the coil and the whip. If the whip alone, you are tuning the antenna....
Trying to be precise with terms.
Corrections welcomed!
